The Religious Education Program is looking for a Parking Lot Monitor at Henry James to help
on Sunday mornings to manage traffic patterns and help keep the children safe. Two people would be

CONFIRMATION NEWS! Our Confirmation date has been set for Saturday, May 8th, at 11:00AM in the
church. The mandatory practice for Confirmation is Thursday, May 6th, from 4:15 - 6PM. Please notify any coaches or extracurricular activity teachers of these dates so there won’t be a problem in the spring. A mandatory Parent Meeting is scheduled in the church for Saturday, January 9th, at 6PM
following the Vigil Mass. Important forms and information will be distributed at this meeting.

Congratulations Third Graders for your outstanding performance of the Christmas Pageant. The children’s efforts were truly a gift to God our Father for the birth of his Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.

THE 5TH ANNUAL RELIGIOUS EDUCATION ADVENT TOY DRIVE

This toy drive will run until Sunday, December 13th. These toys go to children at the St. Francis Bergdorf Clinic in the Blue Hills section of Hartford. For some children, a donated toy will be all they receive for
Christmas. A box for donating new, unwrapped toys will be at Henry James each week, and the church vestibule. . We have so many blessings...let’s share!

GRADE 4 MASS is today, Sunday, November 15th, @ 5PM. All 4th graders are expected to attend.
Please arrive by 4:30PM to practice and we ask you to remember to bring a dry/canned food item for the
Simsbury Food Pantry. Thank-you!

CONFIRMATION I & II classes meet today, Sunday, November 15th. Morning class is 9:30 - 10:30AM, and the evening classes are Conf. I (6-7PM) and Conf. II (7-8PM).

CONFIRMATION RETREAT is next Friday and Saturday, November 20th - 21st, at Holy Family
Retreat Center in West Hartford. The candidates should be at the retreat house no later than 7:45PM.
The retreat will end at 7PM at the conclusion of the 6PM Mass, which all parents are invited to attend. Bring some warm outerwear as we will spend time outdoors Friday night and Saturday. All details were sent home with your son/daughter last Sunday.

FIRST RECONCILIATION CHILDREN are invited to the church on Thursday, November 19th, at 4:30PM to tour the Meditation Room and Reconciliation Room. Parents should attend with their children. The tour will last about 30 minutes. A flyer is going home with the children today.

IMPORTANT RELIGIOUS EDUCATION INFO! Thank you in advance for your cooperation.The parking lot safety plan is in place. Please follow the map on the wall next to the Religious Education bulletin board at HJMS. Also, please adhere to the flow around the cones. The parking lot monitors (dads!) are there to help keep the children safe.

No Religious Education students are permitted to go into the lockers on Sunday mornings- even their own! We have no way of knowing who belongs to which locker, and if anything is ever amiss, our students won’t be blamed if we all adhere to this. Hall Monitors will enforce this rule.

GRADE 9 (Confirmation I) BAKE SALE this Sunday after the 5PM Mass to raise funds for the St. Catherine/ Sacred Heart ice skating party to be held on December 19th at Simsbury Farms ice rink.

Religious Education Update

DID YOU KNOW...that the Religious Education program has 320 families with over 600 children enrolled this year in Grades Kindergarten through Grade 10 (when teens receive the Sacrament of Confirmation)? We have 49 Catechists (teachers), 18 Catechist Aides and a Music Catechist! We have one
dozen Hall Monitors, and two Parking Lot Monitors, too! It takes an entire Catholic
Church to raise our children Catholic!

To register for Grade 2 you must have completed Grade 1 and for Confirmation I you must have completed Grade 8.

Have you thought about sharing your faith by teaching our parish youth about our Catholic Faith?
Spend an hour with your child and several of their church friends. Training, support and excellent teacher’s manuals are provided. Current openings are in Grade 4 (1 teacher needed),
Grade 6 (1 teacher needed) & Grade 7 (2 teachers needed).
