2009 ST. CATHERINE’S 6TH ANNUAL LEAF RAKE

Saturday, November 14th (rain date 11/21) This service is offered to seniors or other needy parishioners
of the parish. If you need help raking your lawn, please sign up in the atrium or vestibule to have your
lawn considered. Many volunteers are needed - men, women & children - willing to join us on a Saturday morning helping others. Members of the Men’s & Women’s Clubs will be in the atrium to sign up requests and volunteers. Everyone that volunteers to rake is invited to Russell Hall for a very nice free lunch! All types of leaf blowers are needed (please list type).

Texas Holdem Poker Tournament

The Men's Club will be having their annual tournament on Wednesday, October 21st, @ 7:30PM. All men of the parish are invited and encouraged to bring neighbors and friends to join us. The cost is $15/per person, BYO snacks and beverages.

Men's Club Golf Tournament A Success!

Friday the annual Men's Club Invitational Golf Tournament was held at Simsbury Farms. We had a great turnout and a great day to pay golf thanks to lots of prayers before tee-off.  After 18 holes of golf, participants enjoyed a nice dinner. Prior to the highly competitive putting competition.

Do you know a company that will help sponsor our community outreach programs?
We kicked off our Sponsor Drive last weekend. Things are off to a good start but we need your help in finding area companies to sponsor items for the picnic; there are opportunities big & small.
See the list below for examples. The next big drive is to visit area retail shops & businesses to
solicit raffle prizes. This has been an extremely successful campaign the last few years. Last year we had over 60 donated items and gift certificates. We’ve lost two busy volunteers who lead the
effort the past three years. Whether you have the time to visit 10 or 100 businesses, we need your help!
The Sponsors and the Raffle are what pay for the picnic. All money raised at the picnic goes back into the parish and our community as activities funded by the Men’s and Women’s Clubs. We can’t do it without your continued support.

ST. CATHERINE OF SIENA WOMEN’S & MEN’S CLUB SCHOLARSHIPS

Applications are now being accepted for the Women’s & Men’s Club Scholarships. There will be two $1,000 scholarships awarded this year to high school seniors who are members of St. Catherine. Selection is based on past service to St. Catherine and/or additional community service. Applications are available in the vestibule and atrium. The deadline for submission is May 1, 2009.

Registration has begun for the Men’s Club Retreat at Holy Family Monastery in West Hartford on the weekend of March 20-22. The weekend of March 27th has been set aside for those unable to attend on 3/20-22.

The retreat begins Friday with dinner at 6PM and concludes with Sunday Mass and brunch at around 1PM. If you cannot participate in the whole retreat, we encourage you to attend for a part of the weekend.
The suggested offering is $200.00 ($100 deposit requested at registration). However, it is Holy Family’s policy to accept any-one who wants to attend regardless of their ability to pay. If you register and are unable to attend, your deposit can be carried over to any weekend in the future.

Women’s Club Meeting

The next Women’s Club meeting will be held on Wednesday, 2/18, @ 7PM. Come and hear our panel of accomplished women in ministry discuss „The Many Roles of Women in the Catholic Church”, including where we‟ve been and where we‟re headed. A brief business meeting and refreshments at 7PM will be followed at 7:30PM by our panel discussion as well as a question and answer session. Bring your friends! We will also be in-viting women from other local parishes. Pick up a flyer in the atrium or vestibule for details about our panelists.

Men's Club Mohegan Sun Trip

St. Catherine’s Men’s Club is sponsoring a trip to the Mohegan Sun Casino on Saturday, January 31, 2009. The cost of the trip will be $20/per person. There are only 55 seats available. Each person will receive a $15 food coupon and three $5 free bets. The bus will leave St. Catherine’s at 4PM and return at 11PM. This might make a great gift for a neighbor or co-worker.
