Background:
The newly formed Lazarus Committee was founded in September 2010 here at St. Catherine
of Siena and is open to any and all parishioners.
What the Ministry does:
Our ministry will provide a reception of coffee/tea, pastries and other simple refreshments after funeral Masses to families who request it. Our role is not to replace a caterer or a restaurant gathering, but fulfill a need in specific family situations.
How the Ministry operates:
Our Ministry’s services will be offered to families when they arrange for a funeral Mass through the parish office. Ministry members will rotate performing set-up, hosting, clean-up, etc. for post-Mass receptions. We hope to alleviate the stress on the deceased’s family at a difficult time.
When does the Ministry take action?
When a family arranges a funeral Mass for a loved one at St. Catherine’s, they will be offered the services of the Lazarus Committee and the parish office will notify the Committee of all particulars.
Why the Ministry may be right for you:
If you wish to participate in a quiet, caring way to the loved ones
of a deceased person during a difficult time, the Lazarus Committee will welcome you. Your Christian desire to serve others can be fulfilled by baking items to be served at the receptions, even if you are unable to get out easily.
